In and out of the fields Billy, the main character, kept working to follow his dream. He was trying to find money to buy two hounds. Wilson Rawls is a fantastic author who writes many classics. Where the Red Fern Grows has many great lessons that will help you if you want to succeed in life.
Throughout Billy’s life he has always wanted dogs, to be specific two hunting hounds. In the last year in a half he was dying of a disease called the dog disease. Every day it got worse. Finally, he had it and started working. This boy needed fifty dollars and it took him over two years to make it. He was in the fields getting berries and selling worms to fishers.
Billy demonstrated to never give up on your dream. Every day for two years this boy has been trying to make money by selling worms and berries. After the second year of working he met his goal. He finally received his two hunting hounds. J.J Watt would never be where he is now if he gave up on his dream. Dan Jansen would never be where he is today if he just gave up after not winning his first shot at taking the gold in the Olympics.
Although, you always can’t get what you want, if you pray to God and ask him for help getting something he will help you as much as possible. Billy in this book prays for God to help him get the two hunting hounds. God could hear Billy praying and wanted to help him collect money. Multiple people pray to God to because the want things and for freedom, but most of them never receive the gift. What Billy received from God is perhaps a miracle.
As you can see, in the book Where the Red Fern Grows it contains useful lessons that will help you achieve goals and succeed in life. Billy learned that in the long run things turn out just the way he wanted it. What lessons would you included if you wrote a book? If I were to be an author I would included lessons about friendship and never giving up.
