New Life

Author’s Note: This piece is a prediction, please look for great vocabulary and creativity.

Depression, guiltiness, and sadness all went through Cody’s brain after walking out of the dark woods.  Cody knew he had to do something about it, because it was wrong to disobey the old man. Not knowing what to do, Cody walked home with tears spilling from his face with guilt.

After opening the brown, old door to his house, Cody looked into the woods and knew this wasn’t the type of person he was.  With the attitude that he had at that moment, Cody rushed into his garage  looking for his shovel. “I got it”, Cody whispered.  He gripped the shovel and sprinted into the woods, to the spot of where Clarence was buried. As Cody started to shovel, he smiled thinking, I am going the right thing.

As the hole started to get bigger and Clarence’s body was uncovered. He put the gold piece in Clarence’s arms, and as doing this he knew this was the start of a new life.

Joe Castle learned his lesson!

Author’s Note: I am analysing the main character in “Calico Joe”, Joe Castle. Please look for the interesting content in the following paragraphs.

Imagine being in the situation when you are in the Minor Leagues of baseball, battling it out will other people that want to be a star in the Major Leagues as much as you do.  Would you keep on trying to get there?  And how long would you try?  That is what Joe Castle had to decide. In the book, “Calico Joe” by John Grisham you will learn to live life to the fullest and to give it your all every chance you get.

Although not everyone gets a chance that could change their life forever, Joe Castle did.  The Chicago Cubs first baseman was out with an injury, so they called up Joe from the Minor Leagues to be their first basemen.  Joe seized the opportunity by bombing twenty-one homeruns in thirty-eight games. After a couple of games Joe started to get cocky by walking the bases after each other of his home runs.

During his first at bat against Warren Tracey, a pitcher from the New York Mets, Joe hit a homerun and again walked the bases. Tracey was getting frustrated and angry by the way Joe celebrated. At Castle's next at bat Tracey wound up and aimed at Joe’s head and hit him right in the head and Joe was down for the count. Joe wasn’t able to play baseball again. He learned to be confident but not cocky and to live every moment to the fullest because you never know what will happen.

Within the book, “Calico Joe”, Joe changes just like Katniss Everdeen, but not in all of the same ways. Katniss Everdeen, the main character in “The Hunger Games”, was a brave person that didn’t care how long she lived.  After her experience, she transformed into a confident person that wants to live life to the fullest just like Joe Castle.  Although these characters are different, in many ways they still hold some similar traits.

In “Calico Joe” by John Grisham, I learned to live life to the fullest and be confident not cocky. Well, reading  “Calico Joe”, you learn that your actions affect other people in good and bad ways.

Founding Fathers Were Great People!

Author’s Note:  In the following essay, I will talk about what I would say to the founding fathers.  You will read about my thoughts regarding the laws and better ways to change one of them.

In the late 1700s, the founding fathers came together to make the main laws for America. The key founding fathers included John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and George Washington. I will talk about what laws I would change and the conversations I would have with the Founding Fathers.

Although the founding fathers made most of the laws, not all of them are necessary.  In this paragraph I will state the main law that should be changed and why.  The one that I would change with is voting. The current law allows individuals that are eighteen or older the right to vote. I disagree with this law. It should be changed to ages twelve and older because for some teens politics matter and affect their lives.

Even though the founding fathers made some bad choices for laws, overall they did a pretty good job.  If I could talk to the founding fathers in person the main thing I would tell them is about all of the laws that I agree on. Also I would like to talk about the rules I would like the change and why.  Overall the founding fathers did a great job summarizing the important laws.

Other than creating laws and rights, the founding fathers signed many of the most important documents that are still in effect today.  The Declaration of Independence a statement adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776 was one of the documents signed by the founding fathers. Other documents signed by the founding fathers include the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  If the founding fathers didn’t sign these documents, who knows where we would be.

Within this essay I talked about the one law I would change and then I gave an explanation why.  The founding fathers were great people, even though they created some ridiculous laws. Without the founding fathers, today wouldn’t be the same because they signed important documents and created some exceptional laws.  In the previous paragraphs I talked about the voting law, what I would say if I had a conversation with the founding fathers themselves, and what important documents they signed.

Mistakes,Mistakes,Mistakes!

Author’s Note: In this short cause/effect response, I will talk about one stupid mistake I made in a baseball game and what happened because of the mistake.  While reading the response please look for the interesting content.

In the following paragraphs, I will talk to you about one of the big cause and effects that happened in my life.  The one I will be talking about is when I was up to bat when we were losing by two runs and we had base runners on second and third.  The count was three and two, I should have been looking for the right pitch, but I was just too eager.

When the pitch from the two and two came in they called it a ball. After the pitch I got out of the batter’s box and took a couple of practice swings. I went back in the batter’s box with my head high, maybe too high.  The pitch was a low and in that got me swinging as if I was a logger cutting down a tree with an axe, I struck out and left two base runners on base for the end of the inning.

Although striking out is miserable; it was not as bad as it would be when my teammates and coaches would tell me when I got in the dugout.  They were like bees, they were stinging me every  they said something inappropriate .The main part of the story is that I let my team down, because they needed me and I didn’t produce. Our team resulted in losing the final game four to one, because of a few errors and bad mental mistakes by other teammates. "Baseball is 90% mental, the other half is physical." said Yogi Berra.

Within the paper, I am telling you that because of mental mistakes and my struck out our team resulted in losing.  That is because they were depending on me to bring in a few runs, but I just couldn’t do it. The main point in the story is that no one is perfect at everything, and you will always make mistakes playing the game and watching the game. "You can observe a lot just by watching." said Yogi Berra.

Staying Alive, The conflict!

Authors Note:  In the book "Hunger Games", the people fighting faced many conflicts, including not trusting people and not knowing what the person next to you was going to do next.

In the “Hunger Games”, by Suzanne Collins, there were many conflicts within the story, including when the contestants were in the arena. For Katniss, she had a low chance of living, because of her personality and not trusting people.

Half way through the games, Katniss realized that Haymitch and the rest of the people were right about teaming up.  Katniss knew that she was in trouble, so she found Rue and team up until the day of the Rue's death. Also Katniss partnered up with Peeta to help them survive for both to obtain the victory of the Hunger Games.

Shawano, the fishing Lake!

Author’s Note:  In this story you will learn how to have fun with family members and what family members can do to make you  even happier  than ever!

On a cool, dewy day in Pewaukee at 9:00 AM on  July 7th, I was loading all of my clothes and fishing gear in the back of my grandparents GMC Terrain. Sadly, my parents had to stay home, I had my grandparents to support me. Although my parents couldn't come, I still had my grandparents which is important.  Family is the most important aspect in life and with family it is easier to be happy.

Even though it took a long time to get there, it was worth it! When we arrived our family members greeted us  and showed us where are rooms were. We decided to visit with family before dinner and just have exciting discussions. After dinner, I was full and decided to go fishing. The meal was great and wanted to do something to finish off the night right. The fishing the whole weekend was great, but it wasn’t the best part of the trip.

Finally we get to the good part, even though fishing was fun , but it can’t compete with jet skiing, tubing, or go-carting. Jet-skiing was the star moment of Shawano, we rented them from a place on the lake and ride them for about two hours. Tubing was great, the best part about it was the waves crashing on the tuber.  The last day of my trip we went go-carting. What a blast! We were drifting when turning and riding into each other.

To be happy in life you need to have family there for you. Remember that family is the most important thing in life and they will help you when it is needed.

Calico Joe Retelling

Authors Note: I am writing a retelling on “Calico Joe” by John Grisham. In the writing I will demonstrate how to retell a story.

Warren Tracey, a pitcher on the Mets, had a hard life as a child by not receiving what he needed to have a good childhood. As Warren thought of his past, he started becoming angry, and took it out on his son, Paul Tracey and later on with Joe Castle, a Chicago Cubs baseball player.  The main character, Warren Tracey after a hard life ,wasn't able to handle his anger toward other people, which cost him his career.

If you like sports books with a little bit of irony than this book is for you.

Florida, What an Adventure

Author's Note: What an Adventure! In this action story you will experience crazy invents and lessons that will be helpful in life.

On a warm, sunny day in the tropics of Florida, we were heading for Sea World. I should have left right away  because I felt something weird was going to happen. What was going to happen? I guess you will just have to wait and seeIn this weird adventure you will experience crazy things and lessons that will help you be successful in life.

Wow, it just feels so weird at Sea World! “ Mom, something weird is going to happen. I can just feel it.” “Parker, nothing is going to happen. Don’t worry!   Everything is going to be OK,” said my mom.  Well, you have to trust what your mom says. I was feeling fantastic  for the whole visit until the end.

Unfortunately, the vacation at Sea World wasn’t over, but I wish it was. There was a lady  walking around  talking on her cell phone.  She wasn’t watching where she was going and ran right into me. I turned around to see what happened.   Right at that moment, she started yelling “thief, thief!”  Apparently, her cell phone had fallen down her sleeve, but she thought I had stolen it.  I looked at her in confusion and denied having her phone.  She looked at me with mean, scary eyes until she felt around in her sleeve and pulled out her phone.  My mom and I looked at her again and just walked away.  The lady did not even say she was sorry.

After that encounter I was upset so my mom suggested that we go get some ice cream.  The treat really hit the spot. What a great way to end our trip to Sea World!

The point of the story is to never yell at a person until you know exactly what happened.  For example, you go home and your iPod has a cracked screen.  Don’t go yelling at your brother before you know what actually happened. Have you ever experienced this?

July 13, 2012 my special day

Author's Note:  Read this creatvie piece very slow because you might get fooled!

On a warm weathered day in the middle of July a boy was being brought into the world.  His name was Parker Alexander Hutjens.  Even though my birthday was supposed to be on July 14 it didn’t really change anything. Being born on this day has its positives because then you are able to have a party outside.

Although July 13 might be a bad day for someone else, it was a great and positive day for  my happy family.  Every year, on July 13th we always party like tomorrow is the end of the world.  On this day every year I get to open all of the precious cards from friends and family member.

Put a swoosh on that!

Author's Note: There are many different types of shoes in the world.  It is important that you pick the best shoes for you.  Reading this help you understand more about shoes.

Shoes are objects that are made out of matter that you wear on your feet.  I have a pair of Nike Free Run 3 , they are very comfortable on the heel and on the toes.  When I went to footlocker or champs for shoes, my first priority with shoes are the feel.  Lastly it is the amount of swag that is put into them.

Nike Hyper-dunks are sick  because they are comfortable and nice looking at the same time.  I have these shoes and they are very nice.  You can get these  at footlocker for about the price of $99.99.  I would totally recommend these shoes to a friend.

Sound and Music are the Same

Author's Note: I wrote about sound affecting our daily lives.  Please take your time reading this because you might learn some new information about music and sound

Sound is pretty much life. Without sound you can’t do that much including talking to people. Sound takes a big role in your life because without sound you can't talk to people and you can’t have music.

Sound is very effective in our lives because it would be hard to live without it.  Music is a type of sound that can help people get away from bad things happening in people’s lives.  Also music is used to become creative and just acting like yourself. So, without sound it would be a pretty darn hard life to live.
